Mobile Tree Fall brings falling leaves. Pressing leaves and putting leaves under a piece of paper and coloring its outline and veins is always fun. There’s a lot more you can do when leaves leave the trees! You can make a mobile tree – a tree that is mobile (it can move) and a tree that is a mobile (a piece of art that hangs from the ceiling). You’ll make a mobile (mo-bul) mobile (mo-beel) of leaves!
With someone’s help at home, get at least 1 wire hangar and some string or fishing line. Then go outside and collect the most interesting and colorful leaves you can find. Bring them inside, trying not to make a mess! Cut the string or fishing line at different lengths – anywhere from 6” to 18”. Tie one end to the stem part of the leaf and the other end to the hangar. Spread them out around the hangar, and presto you’ll have a cool mobile tree!
If you have a lot of leaves and more than one hangar, you can make more than one mobile tree. If you want to get really fancy, you can connect more than one hangar together and have leaves hanging all over the place! Just bend a hangar and/or wrap its hook part to another hangar to connect them. Be careful, though … If you put too many together, a bird might see it and want to build a nest!
