Leaves, Leaves, Leaves... Fall brings falling leaves. Pressing leaves and putting leaves under a piece of paper and coloring its outline and veins is always fun. There’s a lot more you can do when leaves leave the trees! How about leafing through the thousands of leaves outside and collecting and organizing them? Go outside and try to find as many different leaves as you can. You know … find different shapes, different sizes, different colors, and different textures. Bring them inside if it’s not too messy or stay outside if it’s not too windy and group them. You decide how you want to organize them. By color? By size? How are they similar? How are they different? If you do it with other people, you can make a game out of it. With the same leaves, challenge each other to come up with a new way to group them. So … you might organize them by color, then someone else by size, then someone else by shape, then how could you do it differently?! Don’t, uh... autumnatically assume there are only a few ways to group them! |
